LG error codes
LG washers (front-load, top-load and the SideKick pedestal), dishwashers, dryers and fridges. LG fridges show Er and a code, such as Er FF. Two codes are easy to misread on the display: IE looks like 1E, and OE looks like 0E. LG air conditioners use CH codes, such as CH05 or CH38.

Washing machines 12 codes
OE Not draining
The washer couldn't pump the water out in time.
IE Not filling with water
The tub didn't fill in the time the washer allows.
UE Unbalanced load
The washer couldn't balance the load well enough to spin, so it stopped.
dE Door won't lock
The washer can't lock the door, so it won't start.
LE Motor overloaded or locked
The motor is overloaded or can't turn, often because of too much laundry or something stuck in the drum.
CE Motor over-current
The motor drew more electrical current than it should, so the washer stopped to protect it.
Sud Too many suds
The washer found too much foam and switched to a suds-reducing routine, which adds about 2 hours to the cycle.
PF Power failure
The power was cut during a cycle.
CL Child lock is on
The controls are locked, so every button except Power is ignored.
FE Too much water
There's more water in the drum than there should be, so the washer stopped to avoid a flood.
PE Water level sensor
The pressure sensor that tells the washer how much water is in the drum isn't reading correctly.
tE Heating or temperature sensor fault
The washer can't read the water temperature properly.
Dishwashers 8 codes
OE Not draining
The dishwasher couldn't pump the water out.
IE Not filling with water
The water level didn't get high enough in the time allowed.
AE Leak detected in the base
Water has got into the base and lifted the float switch, so the dishwasher has stopped.
bE Too many suds
The dishwasher has found too much foam.
HE Heater fault
The heater isn't heating the water properly.
tE Temperature sensor fault
The dishwasher can't trust its temperature reading.
LE Wash motor fault
LG calls this a wash motor error: the motor, or the wiring to it, may be at fault.
nE Spray arm (Vario) motor fault
The Vario motor, which controls the spray arms, isn't turning normally.
Tumble dryers 9 codes
d80 Exhaust vent restricted
LG's Flow Sense has found the exhaust blocked somewhere between the dryer and the outside vent.
dE Door not closed
The dryer thinks the door isn't completely closed, so it won't start.
HS Humidity sensor error
The dryer has found a problem with its humidity sensor.
tE1 Temperature sensor fault
The dryer has found a problem with its thermistor, the sensor that measures the temperature.
tE2 Temperature sensor fault in the cold
A thermistor error that LG says normally appears in cold conditions, usually because cold outside air is getting back into the dryer through a vent flap that's stuck open.
nP No power to the heater
The dryer can't detect any current at its heater, so it won't heat.
PS Wrong voltage at the power cord
The dryer is getting the wrong voltage through its power cord.
gAS No gas supply
A gas dryer isn't getting any gas, so it can't heat.
F0 Lint filter not in place
The lint filter is missing or isn't inserted properly.
Fridges & freezers 9 codes
Er FF Freezer fan blocked by ice
The freezer fan can't turn, usually because ice or frost has built up round it.
Er IF Ice maker fan fault
LG says the ice maker fan has a malfunction.
Er CF Condenser fan not working
The fan at the back of the fridge that carries heat away from the compressor isn't running.
Er dH Defrost not working
The fridge started a defrost, but the temperature didn't come back to normal afterwards.
Er CO Main board and display not communicating
The main control board and the display board can't communicate.
Er gF Water flow sensor fault
The water flow sensor isn't working properly.
OFF Demo mode: lights on, no cooling
The fridge is in demo (display) mode.
Er FS Freezer temperature sensor fault
LG says the freezer's temperature sensor has a fault, which reduces how well the fridge performs.
Er rS Fridge temperature sensor fault
LG says there's a fault in the temperature sensing on the fridge side, in the upper sensor (R1).
Air conditioners 12 codes
CH05 Indoor and outdoor units not communicating
The indoor unit has lost contact with the outdoor unit, so the system has stopped.
CH38 Refrigerant (gas) level low
The unit has detected that it is low on refrigerant and has stopped to protect itself.
CH10 Indoor fan motor stopped or locked
The fan inside the indoor unit is not turning as it should, so the unit has stopped to avoid damage.
CH61 Outdoor unit overheating
In cooling mode the outdoor unit's coil has got too hot, usually because it can't get rid of its warm air.
CH01 Room air temperature sensor fault
The sensor that measures the air coming back into the indoor unit has disconnected or shorted out, so the unit has stopped.
CH02 Indoor coil (pipe) sensor fault
The temperature sensor on the indoor unit's coil pipe has disconnected or shorted out, so the unit has stopped to protect itself.
CH53 Outdoor unit lost contact with indoor unit
The outdoor unit has lost contact with the indoor unit.
CH67 Outdoor fan motor stopped or locked
The fan in the outdoor unit is not turning, so the system has stopped.
CH21 Compressor drive (inverter) fault
The outdoor unit's compressor drive has detected a fault and shut the compressor down.
CH26 Compressor not turning (may be seized)
The outdoor unit tried to start the compressor but it did not turn as expected, so the system has stopped.
CH34 Pressure safety shutdown on a room unit
A safety relay has switched the unit off because of abnormal pressure in its sealed system.
FL Water tank or drain pan full
The water the unit collects from the air has filled its tank or drain pan, so it has stopped.
No codes of that type for this brand.
Good to know
- LG's own pages sometimes give slightly different advice for front-load and top-load machines. Where they differ, both are shown.
- Air conditioners: To reset, LG says to unplug the unit or switch off its circuit breaker, wait about 5 minutes, then switch it back on and see if the code has cleared.
- Air conditioners: LG says that if the code clears and the unit runs normally you can keep using it. If the same code comes back, stop using the unit and request service: a repeated error may point to an internal circuit or wiring problem.
