What to check, in order
- Front-loader: reset and drain
Unplug for 10 seconds, select No Spin to drain the water, then restart.
- Top-loader: let it cool
Very hot water poured into the tub can set it off. Unplug the washer and let it cool down.
When to call an engineer
If it continues, the thermistor or the heater needs an engineer.
A repair visit will usually check the sensor's reading with a meter, then its wiring.
Before you book
- Note the model and serial number. They're on a label inside the door, around the door frame or on the back.
- Write down the exact code, and what the appliance was doing when it appeared.
