What to check, in order
- Reset the power
Unplug the fridge, or switch it off at its circuit breaker, and use it again after about 5 minutes.
- Watch whether it comes back
LG says the code disappears after a reset, then appears again about 3 hours later if the fault is still there.
When to call an engineer
If Er CF comes back. LG says it's usually a failed fan motor, and it can also be a disconnected wire or a main board problem, so an LG technician needs to diagnose it.
A repair visit will usually check the fan motor, its wiring and whether ice is blocking the blades.
Before you book
- Note the model and serial number. They're on a label inside the fridge, usually on a side wall, or on the back.
- Write down the exact code, and what the appliance was doing when it appeared.
- Check whether it's still under warranty. If it is, the repair may cost you nothing.
