What to check, in order
- Use dishwasher detergent only
Never washing-up liquid or hand-wash liquid. LG recommends a powder or solid dishwasher detergent, or only a small amount of liquid.
- Test it empty
Empty the dishwasher and run it with no detergent, to see whether the detergent is the cause.
- Clear the suds with milk
Set the rinse aid level to L0. Put a bowl with 200 to 300 ml of milk in the middle of the upper rack and run a Normal cycle. Repeat if suds remain, then set the rinse aid back to where it was.
- Check it's level
LG's older error list also blames a dishwasher that isn't level, front to back and side to side.
When to call an engineer
If bE shows when there are no suds to be seen, LG says to request service.
Good to know
- LG's pages vary by model. Its error code guide says 200 ml (7 oz) of milk on the Standard cycle with Extra Dry and Rinse selected, and its older list says 4 to 7 oz on the Auto cycle.
- A rinse aid setting that's too high can cause foaming too, according to LG's error list.
