The code on each brand

Same fault, different code. Each one opens a page with the maker's own checks and a verdict.

Check these first, whatever the brand

  1. Switch off at the breaker first

Turn the air conditioner off at its own breaker or the isolator next to the outdoor unit before you go near it.

  2. Clear snow, ice and leaves outdoors

LG and Samsung both mention snow and debris. Clear what you can reach from outside the grille. Never put fingers or tools through the grille.

  3. Check the indoor air outlet

With the power off, look for anything stuck in the outlet that could stop the fan. Don't take the casing off.

  4. Switch back on once

Wait a few minutes, switch back on and restart. If the same code returns, stop and book a repair.

When it's time for an engineer

If nothing is blocking the fan, the makers point to the fan motor, its wiring or the control board. An engineer checks whether the fan turns freely and whether the motor gets power.
