Check these first, whatever the brand

  1. Let it finish

    Most machines pause, drain or rinse the foam away, then carry on. Don't cancel the programme.

  2. Use less detergent

    Use the dose on the pack for your load size and water hardness. Soft water needs less.

  3. Use the right type

    Front-loaders and high-efficiency (HE) top-loaders need low-foam detergent. Never use washing-up liquid.

  4. Flush out the residue

    If it keeps happening, run an empty hot programme with no detergent, or the machine's drum clean programme.

When it's time for an engineer

Not needed. If it keeps happening with the right detergent, check the drain as well.
