Hotpoint & Indesit error codes
Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines share one set of F-codes, F01 to F18, and Whirlpool's UK service site publishes the same table. Whirlpool washers sold in North America use a different system: see Whirlpool & Maytag.

Washing machines 12 codes
F01 Circuit board fault
The electronic circuit board has a fault.
F02 Motor circuit fault
There's a fault in the motor circuit: the drum turns only now and then during the wash, or not at all.
F03 Temperature sensing fault
The machine can't sense the water temperature, so it won't heat on wash settings (or dry, on a washer-dryer).
F05 Drain blockage or pump problem
Water isn't pumping out.
F06 Door lock fault
The door won't open or close properly, or the machine won't start with the door shut.
F07 Heating circuit fault
Hotpoint lists it as a fault in either the circuit board or the heating circuit.
F08 Heater fault
The heater has a fault, so the programme pauses partway through.
F09 Software fault
The machine's software has a fault.
F11 Pump circuit fault
Water stays in the machine and won't pump out.
F12 Electronic control fault
The electronic control isn't working, so the machine won't turn on and run.
F15 Heater control fault
The heater control has a fault.
F18 Internal data error
The machine has an internal data error: some or all of the display and functions don't work.

Good to know
- Some displays show the codes with a dash, as F-01. It's the same code.
- Separately from any error code, certain Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines made between October 2014 and February 2018 are under a fire-safety recall because a part in the door lock can overheat. Check your model and serial number on the official recall checker. If yours is affected, unplug it, stop using it and contact Whirlpool for a free repair or replacement.
