What to check, in order
- Straighten the drain hose
Pull the washer out and check the hose isn't kinked, squashed or clogged. LG recommends at least 10 cm (4 in) of space behind the machine.
- Listen for the pump
Run a Spin Only cycle. You should hear the pump hum within about 15 seconds.
- Clean the pump filter
On front-loaders it's behind the service cover at the bottom front. Drain the leftover water into a container first, then clear the filter.
- Thaw a frozen hose
In a cold garage or utility room, pour warm water (50 to 60°C, 122 to 140°F) into the drum and wait 1 to 2 hours.
- Too many suds?
Excess detergent can cause it too. Use less, and run Tub Clean.
When to call an engineer
If the filter and hose are clear and the pump doesn't hum, the pump has probably failed.
Parts people end up buying
Only if the checks above point to a part. Match it to your model number first: it's on a label inside the door, around the door frame or on the back.
