Instant Pot error codes
Instant Pot multicookers show short messages on the display: words such as Burn, Lid and NoPr, and C codes such as C5 or C7. The same messages are used across the Duo, Duo Plus, Duo Evo Plus, Nova and Pro ranges, with some differences between models, noted on each page.

Pressure cookers 9 codes
Burn Too hot at the bottom of the pot
The bottom of the inner pot got too hot, so the cooker cut the heat to stop the food burning.
C1 Faulty sensor
The cooker has found a fault with one of its sensors.
C2 Faulty sensor
Like C1 and C6, Instant's manuals list C2 simply as a faulty sensor, with no home fix.
C5 Too hot: no inner pot or no liquid
The base got too hot, either because the inner pot isn't in the cooker or because there's no liquid in it.
C6 Faulty sensor
The cooker has found a fault with one of its sensors.
C7 Heating element or not enough liquid
The cooker couldn't heat as expected.
C8 Wrong inner pot
The cooker has detected the wrong inner pot.
NoPr Not coming up to pressure
The cooker couldn't build pressure.
Lid Lid not in the right position
The lid isn't where the chosen programme needs it: not closed for pressure cooking, or on the pot during Sauté.

Good to know
- Instant's minimum liquid for pressure cooking: 1 cup (250 mL) for a 3-quart pot, 1½ cups (375 mL) for a 6-quart, 2 cups (500 mL) for an 8-quart and 2½ cups (625 mL) for a 10-quart. Use thin, water-based liquid.
- Never force the lid. Instant's manuals say to open it only once all the pressure has been released and the float valve has dropped down.
