Check these first, whatever the brand
- Open the tap fully
The tap behind the machine is often left half closed after a move or plumbing work. On machines with two hoses, both taps need to be open.
- Check the hose
It shouldn't be kinked, squashed behind the machine or frozen.
- Clean the inlet filter
Turn the tap off, unscrew the hose from the back of the machine and clean the small mesh filter in the inlet. It clogs with limescale and grit over time.
- Check the water pressure
Run the kitchen tap. Low mains pressure, or another appliance filling at the same time, can be enough to set the code off.
- Close the door or lid properly
Some machines won't fill until the door is shut and locked, so a door fault can look like a filling fault.
When it's time for an engineer
If water still won't go in with the tap open and the filter clean, the water inlet valve has probably failed. It's a common, inexpensive part.
