About Appliance Error Codes

Appliance Error Codes is a free site for anyone whose washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, fridge, oven, air conditioner or air fryer is showing a code: it tells you what the code means, what to check first, and whether the repair is worth doing at all.

How the answers are checked

All 73 brand codes are checked against the manufacturer's own support pages and technical documents, and every code page links the exact pages it was checked against. Where a manufacturer's pages disagree with each other, the page says so instead of quietly picking one.

Generic codes, such as E1 or F2 on unbranded or less common appliances, don't come from one official list. For those, the site gives the most common meaning across makers, and says so on the page.

Some brands aren't here yet because their codes couldn't be confirmed from an official source. Beko is one: the lists published online contradict each other. Nothing goes on the site until it can be checked.

What the verdicts mean

• Not a faultThe appliance is working as designed, usually protecting itself. Nothing to repair.
• Usually freeAlmost always fixed with a check or a clean that costs nothing.
• Worth fixingA repair that usually makes sense: a cheap part or a simple job.
• Get a quote firstCould be cheap, could be expensive. Get a price and compare it with the appliance's age.
• Deal with it nowA safety or damage risk. Stop using it until it's sorted.
• Usually replaceThe repair usually costs more than a new one.

How hard is the fix?

• Very easyNo tools, a few minutes.
• EasyBasic care, maybe a screwdriver or a tray for water.
• ModeratePanels off or a multimeter. Fine if you are handy.
• TrickyPossible for experienced DIYers, but most people call someone.
• Engineer onlyMains wiring, gas or sealed systems. Leave it to a professional.

How the site pays for itself

Some pages link to parts on Amazon. If you buy through one of those links, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes an answer: pages tell you when a repair isn't worth it, and many have no part links at all.
