GE Appliances error codes
GE Appliances washers, dryers and dishwashers show short codes like C1 or dE, or whole words such as H2O SUPPLY scrolling across a small display, and models without a display blink a light instead. GE, GE Profile, Café and Hotpoint machines sold in North America share these messages, though not every model shows every one. That Hotpoint is a GE Appliances brand, not the UK and European Hotpoint owned by Whirlpool, whose codes are on the Hotpoint & Indesit page.

Washing machines 7 codes
H2O Water not coming in
The washer has found that water isn't coming in, so it stops and locks its controls for 4 minutes.
Po Draining took too long
On 2015 and newer top-loaders, Po scrolling on the display, or a flashing Rinse light, means the washer took too long to pump the water out.
dE Lid opened during the cycle
The lid was opened, so the washer paused.
UE Unbalanced load
The load is off balance, so the washer can't spin properly.
FE Water at a critical level
The water inside the washer has reached a critical level.
18 Pump filter needs cleaning
On the GE Profile UltraFast Combo washer-dryer, 18 means the pump filter needs cleaning.
353 Lint filter clogged
On the GE Profile UltraFast Combo washer-dryer, 353 most often means the lint filter is clogged with fabric softener residue.
Dishwashers 8 codes
H2O Not getting enough water
The dishwasher isn't getting enough water, or none at all, during the fill.
C1 Draining took too long
The pump-out during the drain has taken more than 2 minutes.
C3 Won't drain
The dishwasher will not drain.
C4 Float switch stuck
The float switch is stuck or has failed, or the drain or sump is clogged.
C6 Water too cold
The water coming into the dishwasher is too cold.
C7 Temperature sensor fault
The dishwasher's water temperature sensor circuit has stopped working.
PF Power failure
There has been a power failure to the dishwasher.
LEAK Leak detected
The display shows LEAK DETECTED: the leak detection system has found a possible leak.

Good to know
- CAnCELEd scrolling on a washer, or the two furthest lights flashing, means it was paused for more than 24 hours or stopped itself because of an error. The controls lock for 4 minutes, and unplugging starts the wait again. Then select Drain & Spin and press Start. If it keeps happening, switch off the power for one minute and try again.
- GE's own help pages say lights and messages vary between models. Where top-loaders, front-loaders and the UltraFast Combo differ, the code page says so.
