What to check, in order
- Close the lid
Then press Start/Pause. The washer won't restart on its own, and shuts off after a short delay if you don't press it.
- Be quick
On some models dE or E2 flashes for about 30 seconds, then the washer shuts off and you have to start the cycle again.
When to call an engineer
Only if the code keeps appearing with the lid closed.
Good to know
- Lid, or a flashing Lid Locked light on models without a display, can also mean something else: 3 cycles have been started without the lid being opened in between. The washer won't start another until you open it. Open and close the lid, then start a new cycle.
- None of GE's top-load washers will spin with the lid up, even though some older washers agitate with it open.
