What to check, in order

1. Run the hot tap first

   Run the tap next to the dishwasher before you start it, to clear the cold water out of the pipe.

2. Check the water heater

   Adjust its temperature. GE's manuals give 120°F (49°C) as the minimum and 150°F (66°C) as the maximum for the water going in.

3. Don't share the hot water

   Avoid running the washing machine or taking showers while the dishwasher runs.

4. Choose a longer option

   Options that make the dishwasher run longer let it add more heat.
