What to check, in order
- Close the door firmly
Push it until it clicks, and check no clothing is caught in the door or the rubber seal.
- Check the child lock
An active child lock can bring up the code too.
- Restart the cycle
For dE1 or dC1, Samsung's advice is to switch the washer off and start the cycle again.
When to call an engineer
If the door is clearly shut and the code won't clear, or the door or catch is damaged, the door lock needs replacing. It's a common and fairly cheap part.
Good to know
- dE2 means different things on different models. On European models it's a fault with the On/Off button: unplug the washer at the wall, wait 5 minutes and try again. On US models it's another door error.
