GE FE error code

Water at a critical level

The water inside the washer has reached a critical level. GE's instruction is to turn off the water and the power and call for service.

GE Profile, Café and US Hotpoint models use the same codes, though not every model shows every one.

  • Unplug it before you touch anything inside.
  • Turn the tap off before you undo any hose or filter.

What to check, in order

  1. Turn the water off

    Close both supply taps behind the washer.

  2. Turn the power off

    Unplug the washer.

  3. Call for service

    GE doesn't give any fix for FE that you can do yourself.

When to call an engineer

Straight away. GE says FE needs a service call.

A repair visit will usually check the water inlet valve, which may let water through when it should be shut, and the pressure sensor.

Before you book
  • Note the model and serial number. They're on a label inside the door, around the door frame or on the back.
  • Write down the exact code, and what the appliance was doing when it appeared.
  • Check whether it's still under warranty. If it is, the repair may cost you nothing.
