What to check, in order
- Close the lid
Make sure it's completely closed. The washer won't run with the lid open.
- Open both taps fully
Hot and cold. The washer also needs enough water pressure, so check whether water is being used elsewhere in the house while it fills.
- Straighten the fill hoses
Look for kinks behind the machine.
- Clean the inlet screens
Turn both taps off, take the hoses off the water valve connections and clean the filter screens. Then reconnect the hoses.
- Check the drain standpipe
It must be at least 36 in (91 cm) high to stop water siphoning out as the washer fills.
- Look for a leak
Frigidaire also asks you to check for water leaking from the tub.
When to call an engineer
If none of these steps fix it, Frigidaire recommends booking a service visit.
Good to know
- High-efficiency washers use less water, and they sense the load before filling, which can take a few minutes. A low water level on its own is normal.
