What to check, in order
- Take out the filters
Turn the Cylinder Fine Filter counterclockwise and lift it out, then take the Coarse Filter out of the bottom of the tub.
- Rinse them
Empty the fine filter and rinse both under running water, then put them back.
- Clean the sump and glass trap
Clear any food soil from the sump area and, on models that have one, the glass trap.
- Check the drain hose
Make sure it isn't pinched or blocked.
- Run it again
If the code comes back, press Cancel or turn the power off at the breaker for 5 minutes, then try once more.
When to call an engineer
If it keeps coming back with clean filters, contact Frigidaire for service.

- Frigidaire's help article calls the part to clean the glass trap; its 2021 manual describes a Cylinder Fine Filter and a Coarse Filter. Clean whichever your model has.
- Some Frigidaire dishwashers show E40 or EF0 for the same fault.
