What to check, in order
- Unplug it first
Then put down towels and a shallow tray. If it stopped during a hot wash, let the water cool.
- Clean the pump filter
On most models it's behind the flap at the bottom front (your handbook shows where). Let the water out slowly, then clear the filter.
- Check the waste hose
For kinks and blockages along its length.
- Check under the sink
If the machine drains into the sink waste, a blocked trap or waste connection stops it draining.
When to call an engineer
If the filter, hose and plumbing are clear and it keeps happening, book an engineer: the pump may have failed.
