What to check, in order
- Open the supply valve
The valve that feeds the dishwasher may be closed or only part open. Check the water supply to the house hasn't been cut off too.
- Check the supply hose
It shouldn't be kinked, bent or folded. If it's frozen, Samsung UK says to thaw it in warm water.
- Thaw a frozen valve
Samsung UK's method: soak a towel in water at 50 to 60°C, wrap it round the valve, and repeat until it thaws. Take care not to scald yourself.
- Clean the valve filter
With the water turned off, clear any debris from the small filter on the inlet valve.
- Check the pressure and temperature
Samsung US asks for a supply of 20 to 120 psi (about 1.4 to 8.3 bar), with water at 120 to 149°F (49 to 65°C) and no hotter.
When to call an engineer
If the supply is on, the hose is clear and the code comes back, the water inlet valve has probably failed. Less often it's the control board. Samsung UK says to call its service centre for either.
Good to know
- Samsung US recommends a stainless steel supply line, and turning the supply valve off if the dishwasher won't be used for a week or longer.
