What to check, in order
- Unplug it and open the doors
Samsung's fix is to thaw the fan out: unplug the fridge and leave the doors open. Samsung US says a few hours; Samsung Latin America says about 8 hours.
- Don't use a hair dryer
Let the ice melt by itself. Samsung US warns that a hair dryer used to speed up defrosting will damage the fridge.
- Plug back in and close the doors
Then use the fridge as normal and see whether the code stays away.
- Check the doors seal
Samsung US's test: put a torch inside and close the door. Where light shines out, the door isn't closing fully. Clean the seals with warm soapy water and dry them with a soft cloth.
When to call an engineer
If 22E comes back after a full defrost. Samsung Latin America says the fan itself may have failed, and Samsung says to request service.
Good to know
- Samsung US says to keep door openings short: ideally less than one minute at a time, once an hour or less.
