What it means
It's a setting, not a fault: Samsung suggests it for saving energy while you're away, and says it's not for storing food. Some models show it as scrolling temperature bars instead, and on Family Hub models Fridge Manager shows OFF in every compartment. The button combination to turn it off depends on the control panel.
What to check, in order
- Most models
Touch and hold the top two buttons on the left of the panel for 8 seconds, or until the fridge chimes. Samsung US says panels made after 2015 also need the top right button held with them.
- French door models
Hold Power Freeze and Freezer until it chimes, about 8 seconds. If that doesn't work, try Power Freeze, Freezer and Fridge together, or Ice Off and Freezer.
- Bespoke and newer panels
Hold the < and > buttons together for 6 seconds, then press the O button.
- Family Hub
On the screen, go to Apps, open Fridge Manager, tap Fridge Settings, then Cooling Off, and choose Deactivate and Proceed.
- Upright convertible models
These show oF. Press and hold Temp., Power Freeze and Lock together for 5 seconds, until it chimes.
When to call an engineer
Samsung US says this mode doesn't need a service visit: if none of the combinations works, check your user manual for your model's buttons. Call Samsung only if it still won't cool once the mode is off.
Good to know
- Samsung UK's example is different: on some of its models, holding Energy Saver and Power Freeze (or Freezer) for 3 seconds turns it off. If you're unsure, your manual has the exact buttons.
