What to check, in order
- Check the ice maker is on
The Ice Off icon shouldn't be lit. If it's blinking, the ice bucket isn't in, or isn't in correctly.
- Check the ice bucket
It should be pushed fully home and locked, with nothing in it but ice.
- Check the freezer temperature
Samsung US says the freezer needs to be at 0°F or colder to make ice. Samsung UK suggests about -21°C for ice to start within 3 to 4 hours.
- Reset the ice maker
Press and hold the Test button until it chimes, which can take up to 10 seconds. The test takes about 6 minutes on an ice maker in the fridge section, or about 30 seconds on one in the freezer. Press it once only: Samsung UK warns that repeated presses can overflow the tray or jam the ice.
- Give it time
Ice should start within 3 hours. It can take a full 24 hours to get back to normal amounts.
When to call an engineer
If the code stays, or there's still no ice after the reset and the wait. Samsung US says to request service.
Good to know
- Samsung US asks for a water pressure of at least 20 psi (about 1.4 bar). Samsung UK gives 30 psi as its minimum, and a test: 10 seconds of dispensing should give at least 150 ml.
Parts people end up buying
Only if the checks above point to a part. Match it to your model number first: it's on a label inside the fridge, usually on a side wall, or on the back.
