Door open or door switch fault

The dryer thinks the door is open, or has a problem with the latch or the sensor that detects it. dF points at the door switch itself.

  • Unplug it before you touch anything inside.

What to check, in order

  1. Close the door firmly

    Check no laundry is caught in it, and that it closes and latches properly.

  2. Check the latch

    Make sure it's securely fixed and not damaged.

  3. Check the Child Lock

    Samsung UK says an active Child Lock can bring up dC or dE when you open the door, even if the dryer isn't running.

  4. Reset it

    Unplug for at least 30 seconds and try again.

When to call an engineer

If it comes back, or for dF. Samsung UK says dF means checking the door lock or switch wiring for loose or damaged connections, and Samsung Australia says the whole door lock and switch may need replacing.
