What to check, in order
- Empty the bin
Take the bin out and empty it.
- Clean the filter
Take the filter out of the bin and tap it against your rubbish bin to shake off the dust. iRobot says filters are not designed to be washed.
- 800 and 900 series: check the fan
With the bin door open, look for dust in the fan. Compressed air or a cotton bud can clear it.
- Tap the bin
Take it out and tap the bottom briskly to loosen packed dirt.
- i series: rinse the bin
If it continues, take the filter out, rinse the bin by hand with warm water and let it dry completely. It isn't dishwasher safe.
When to call an engineer
On 800 and 900 series, iRobot says a replacement bin may be needed if the message persists.
Good to know
- The i series says: "Vacuum problem. See the app for help."
Parts people end up buying
Only if the checks above point to a part. Match it to your model number first: it's on a label on the underside, often under the dust bin.
