What to check, in order
- Clear the wheel wells
Push the wheels up and down several times and shake out any loose debris trapped in the wheel wells.
- Spin both wheels by hand
Turn them briskly. They should turn freely, and each should have the same amount of resistance.
- Then press CLEAN
Once the wheel is clear, press CLEAN to restart, as Roomba's own message asks.
When to call an engineer
If a wheel won't turn by hand, or the error keeps coming back on a clear, flat floor, iRobot says you may need a replacement wheel module.
Good to know
- Older models say: "Error five. Spin Roomba's side wheels to clean." Some play a two-tone sound followed by five beeps instead.
