What it means
Vaillant's newer installation manuals describe F.32 as the fan's frost protection being active, with the fan speed outside its limits. An earlier ecoTEC plus manual simply calls it a fan fault.
What to check, in order
- Don't try to repair it yourself
The fan is inside the boiler. Vaillant's user manual says never to carry out repairs on the boiler yourself.
- Call a Gas Safe registered engineer
Or Vaillant on 0344 736 0049. Have the boiler's model and the code ready.
When to call a Gas Safe engineer
Vaillant lists a fan or circuit board plug that isn't connected properly, a break in the wiring, a blocked fan, a faulty Hall sensor or faulty electronics.
A repair visit will usually check the fan, its wiring and the flue.
- Note the model and serial number. They're on a label on the data badge, usually under the boiler or behind the front cover.
- Write down the exact code, and what the appliance was doing when it appeared.
- Check whether it's still under warranty. If it is, the repair may cost you nothing.
Quick answers
What does the Vaillant F32 fault code mean?
The boiler's fan isn't running at the speed it should, so the boiler has stopped. Vaillant's newer installation manuals describe F.32 as the fan's frost protection being active, with the fan speed outside its limits. An earlier ecoTEC plus manual simply calls it a fan fault.
Can I fix Vaillant F32 myself?
Engineer only (engineer visit). Start with: don't try to repair it yourself; call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Vaillant lists a fan or circuit board plug that isn't connected properly, a break in the wiring, a blocked fan, a faulty Hall sensor or faulty electronics.
Is Vaillant F32 worth repairing?
Get a quote first. It may be a plug or wiring, or the fan itself. Ask for a price before agreeing to a new fan on an older boiler.
