What it means
Baxi's current code list for engineers doesn't include E119. It gives low water pressure as E118. So if the weather isn't cold, check the pressure gauge as well.
What to check, in order
- Switch the boiler off
At the control panel, then turn the electricity off at the wall.
- Find the frozen part
It's usually the most exposed part of the condensate pipe, outside.
- Warm it gently
Along its exposed length, with a hot water bottle, a microwaveable heat pack or warm water poured from a watering can.
- Power on and restart
Turn the power back on at the wall and restart the boiler. Repeat the thawing until it works again.
- Check the pressure gauge
Baxi says it should read between 1 and 2 bar, with the needle in the middle of the green area when the boiler is cold. Below 1 bar, top it up with the filling loop.
When to call a Gas Safe engineer
If the pipe isn't frozen and the pressure is fine, or the boiler won't restart after thawing, call a Gas Safe registered engineer.
